2021 Season Review - A photo journey of our most perfect Spring

I’ve been amazed at the day in day out resilience of farmers

How they continue through countless years of season ending weather, pests, disease, markets and more.

I’m just a youngster in this world of farming but I know one thing to be true.

This land, this soil, these vegetables and this community have worked their way deep into my soul.

Each year I search for that perfect year when the weather is kind, the soil yields delicious, beautiful and nutritious veggies, the farm supports the community and the community supports the farm, and I find a sense of growth and peace I’ve not found before.

This was the most perfect year I known and I thank you deeply.

It’s one I’ll always remember with joy, both the good times and the rough….it’s been my most perfect year and I hope you enjoy this journey through it.

It Starts with Spring

I’m not sure what marks the start of a season. Is it the months of planning that start long before the first seed is sown? January spent gathering supplies & building infrastructure? February when I start the first seeds? March when I worry about where plants will go when the ground is buried in snow? April & May when we try to play catch up building hoophouses and planting like mad in between weekly snowstorms?

Or maybe it’s June, when we harvest the first lettuce, place it in your hands and see your smiles for the first time.
