When I started the season review I thought it would be one post of what made this year so perfect. By the time I got to editing photos in May I knew I had to break it into 3 seasons.
So much happened, there were so many amazing memories and it was just so dang beautiful!
But beyond the physical beauty was a deeper emotional one.
This was the summer Mark and I started to see it was possible to enjoy both life and farming.
Our employees, Alyssa, Dion and Jeannette, our customers, and the deeper work I’ve been doing on my own beliefs made that difference.
Taking all of these moments and distilling them into just a few photos was beyond difficult but in the end the ones that brought the deepest feelings to my heart are the ones I’ve included.
They are the sum of my most perfect summer.
This summer was exceptionally beautiful. The cold, long spring mixed with an abundance of moisture brought on a wildflower season that we will always remember. Dragonflies, birds, toads, bees, cicadas, ducks, snakes and so many more critters brought us joy each day.
But ultimately the people who filled our year were what made it so perfect.
The giddy joy from our customers when they picked up their weekly vegetable subscription. The amazement from our employees when they unearthed their first potato. My own when I grew cauliflower, cabbage and broccolini for the first time.
Returning to the Red Feather Lakes Independence Day fair, going on hikes, foraging and simple evenings on the porch with Mark. Finally visiting with our parents after so long.
Definitely my most perfect summer!
